		<description>My Windows Explorer and players would crash on trying to open an AVI file. Thanks to the steps mentioned in the above post, I uninstalled the players that I had installed after which it started crashing. Then I installed the codec pack, whose link is given in the above post. It worked like wonder, now the AVI files open and play fine.

But it all started due to my search for a freeware that could convert AVI to MP4 format. If anyone knows of such freeware please post here.
