Anyway I set it up for SCIM web site and this blog.

Today, when I looked at the analytics report in the admin interface, I was quite shocked by the features Google Analytics provides: besides the normal statstics available in open source web log stats analyzer, such as awstats, it can also show where your visitors come from in a world map (as the one you can see in the right column of this blog, but more powerful and completely free). One of another cool features is to show your page with a image associated to each internal link to indicate how many times it is clicked.

Although the intended primary use case of Google Analytics is to track and improve google adword performance for customs, google provides it free of charge to normal users as well. Thanks go to google, again

The application procedure was ok and the approval went back in less than 2 hours, although It is stated in their application page that it normally takes 1 to 2 days to reply

Then it was time to setup the code. However, no matter which format I tried, no matter where I put it, it just did not work. In firefox, I got nothing except the background. In IE, a white page with “ACCESS DENIED” was in the place of the ad…

I went back to the google adsense site to check its FAQ. According to the ” Quick Start Guide“, as soon as I get approved, it should display at least some Public Service Ads (PSAs). As I could not figure out what was wrong, I emailed google for trouble shooting.

However, after another several hours, when I tried it again, it all worked fine. Thus my conclusion is that their system does require some time to catch up with new comers, and the ” Quick Start Guide” is not so accurate.

The next day, I got a email from google regarding to my questions. As time solved it already, so I did not reply it. However, the email does contain some useful information about trouble shooting and reporting issues, so the related part is quoted below:

1) Please try clearing your browser cache and deleting your cookies before trying to access your site again. For more information, please see here and here.

2) Please also make sure that JavaScript is enabled and any ad blocking software is disabled. For more information, please see here.

If you’re still unable to view the Google ads after following steps 1 and 2 above, please reply to this email with a detailed description of the problem and I’ll be happy to investigate further. Specifically, could you please provide responses to these questions?
